Program Guidelines: NPInfluence

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) offers clients an opportunity to send electronic surveys through NPInfluence — an online research panel of nurse practitioners (NPs). NPInfluence has thousands of practicing NPs in primary, acute and specialty care. Interested clients can submit their applications at any time throughout the year. Upon approval, AANP will administer an electronic survey on behalf of the clients.

Please note, AANP does not provide direct access to NPInfluence panelists. Additionally, AANP does not provide identifiable information on panelists (e.g., name, email).

Application Requirements

In all cases, approval is dependent on the successful submission and review of all information outlined below. Clients do not need an Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval or exemption to qualify for this program; however, if your survey is going through an IRB, you will need to have an IRB approval or exemption before submitting your application.

Applications must include:

  • Contact Information.
    • Full name.
    • Phone number.
    • Email address.
    • Organization name.
  • Membership Status.
    • Select what type of AANP member you are, if applicable (e.g., Corporate Council, NP, Associate).
  • Survey Logistics.
    • Desired number of respondents.
    • Characteristics of the desired respondents (e.g., NPs working in Arizona, NPs certified in psychiatric/mental health).
    • Estimated budget.
    • Desired survey launch date.
    • Desired date to receive data file.
    • IRB approval status, if applicable.
  • Survey Instrument or Questionnaire.
    • If you have a draft survey instrument or questionnaire ready, please submit it with your application.

Application Submission

AANP staff will review all applications. Staff will not review incomplete applications.

Please complete the following steps to successfully submit your application:

  1. Compile all the application components.
  2. Submit your application to AANP.

Professional Services Agreement (PSA) Between AANP and the Client

The PSA defines the data collection services that AANP will conduct on behalf of the client and covers intellectual property rights, confidentiality, scope of work and estimated fees. AANP will attempt to reach the desired number of respondents; however, AANP cannot guarantee that the desired number of respondents will complete the survey. AANP will adjust the estimated fees if the desired number of respondents do not complete the survey.

Raw Data File

Within four weeks of the close of the survey, AANP will provide an invoice to the client. Once AANP has received the invoice payment, a raw data file containing the survey responses will be sent to the client via a secure link. Clients can request the raw data file as an Excel, CSV or STATA file.

Final Product Submission

As a courtesy, AANP requests that clients share their final research product with AANP. For example, if the final research product is a peer-reviewed journal article, AANP would like to receive a copy of the published article. AANP will use the final product to help inform the future development of NPInfluence and related initiatives.

In addition, depending on the subject matter and use of AANP data, materials, or name, AANP may request the opportunity to review relevant portions of the research product prior to submission or publication.
