The Gastroenterology Community offers a unique opportunity to interactively collaborate with colleagues who share interest or clinical expertise in gastroenterology. As a community member, you’ll have access to a cutting-edge, online forum where you can engage in discussions, document sharing and knowledge exchange with fellow nurse practitioners (NPs). A Message From the Gastroenterology Community Co-chair
Alice Saji, DNP, MSN, FNP-C, is a nurse with over 28 years of experience, and currently works at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology (GH) department as an NP for over nine years. As a gastroenterology hepatology NP, she sees patients with acute gastrointestinal (GI)/hepatology issues and has a special interest in immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-GI-related toxicity. She has given lectures at the local and national levels and has multiple publications. She is also an active member of different advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) committees at the institutional, state and national levels, and is a patient safety and quality officer for the GH department.
She was the previous APRN chairperson for the Indian American Nurses Association of Greater Houston (IANAGH) and vice president of IANAGH. Her DNP project was on “Implementing an immunotherapy toxicity (IOTOX) GI service improves outcomes in patients with immune-mediated diarrhea and colitis.” She received many awards for her contributions to the profession, education and community, including the “Outstanding Graduate Student Award” from Texas Woman’s University in 2022; the Nursing Excellence Award from IANAGH in 2023; and the Nurse Stewardship Award 2024 from the National Association of Indian Nurses of America (NAINA).

Gastroenterology Community Details and Eligibility
- Annual Dues: $20.
- Available exclusively to current AANP members.
- Open to all AANP members with specialty practice or interest in gastroenterology, particularly those with board certification.
