Ms. Butler is a Nephrology NP with the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC). She manages in-center hemodialysis patients at multiple satellite units across Vermont, follows patients in the nephrology clinic. Manages the UVMMC Polycystic Kidney Disease Center of Excellence and assists in research studies. She was recognized as the high scorer on the 2016 Certified Nephrology Nurse-Nurse Practitioner Examination and was the recipient of the UVMMC Excellence in Advance Practice Award in 2021. She currently serves on the Nephrology Nursing Credentialing Commission Board for Advance Practitioners and the Nephrology Nursing Commission Advanced Practice Item Writing and Test Committee. A kidney transplant survivor, she enjoys camping, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

I am honored to serve as co-chair for the Men's Health, Urology and Nephrology Community. I have worked as an NP since 1996, but in Urology since 1999, and have been certified as a Urology NP since 2000. I am Editor-in-Chief of Urologic Nursing, and a past president for the Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates. Much of my research has been working with interdisciplinary teams in urology and has focused on defining the NP role in urology environments, because of my passion and belief that we need to define that role for ourselves. The number of NPs discovering urology and its many facets [such as sexual health, oncology, stone disease, men’s health, continence care] has grown and will continue to grow, and I look forward to engaging with the AANP community as we explore how this impacts our practice. I hope to help mobilize the collective energy and experience of AANP members as we move to improve the experiences of all patients seeking urology care.
